The accuracy of Rextag’s GIS Data varies per area and pipeline operator. In a study conducted from random locations in rural well as in urban areas in the US we overplayed our pipeline data on various high resolution area photography tiles to compare the centerline with the ROW “scars” on the ground. We then tallied the offset distances in feet per all the pipelines shown in that area. This exercise was repeated multiple times to reach a sample size of 1000.
