The conversion descriptor is stored in the memory pointed to by \fIresultp\fP. .PP The values permitted for \fIfromcode\fP and \fItocode\fP are the same as for the function \fBiconv_open\fP. .PP After a successful return from this function, \fIresultp\fP can be be used as an \fBiconv_t\fP object with the \fBiconv\fP function. .SH "RETURN VALUE" The \fBiconv_open_into\fP function fills \fB*\fP\fIresultp\fP and returns 0 if it succeeds. In case of error, it sets \fBerrno\fP and returns \-1. .SH ERRORS The following error can occur, among others: .TP .B EINVAL The conversion from \fIfromcode\fP to \fItocode\fP is not supported by the implementation. .SH "CONFORMING TO" This function is implemented only in GNU libiconv and not in other \fBiconv\fP implementations.
