ZEDG K12 HVAC GSHP with DOAS
Each zone served by the DOAS (classrooms, corridors, library/media center, lobbies, mechanical rooms, offices, and restrooms) was modeled with a two-speed GSHP.
The heat pumps rejected energy to a single plant loop that was served by a 90% efficient variable-speed pump with 40 ft of head and a design loop exit temperature set point of 69.8°F. A ground heat exchanger was modeled using the EnergyPlus Runtime Language. The EnergyPlus Runtime Language program raised the temperature of the loop 10°F if the entering water temperature was lower than 60°F, and it lowered the temperature of the loop 10°F if the entering water temperature was higher than 60°F.
