The data is composed of microscopy images of triangular shaped neonatal rat ventricular myocytes and engineered cardiac tissues. Neonatal rat ventricular myocytes (NRVMs) prepared from two-day old Sprague-Dawley rats. NRVMs were engineered into isotropic tissues and triangular shaped single cells. These samples were fixed and stained with DAPI, phalloidin, and alpha-actinin. Microscopy images were taken of each stain, and MATLAB was used to determine construct orientation.
