The `sidecar` branch, which is set as a default branch for the repo, has all the customizations done to the gem speicific to sidecar.

How to upgrade(hypothetical - have not done earlier):
 - Check out README
 - `git pull` from upstream `master`
 - `git checkout sidecar`
 - `git rebase -i master`
